Very interesting topic and it brings amazing opportunities. I would have liked to see how to program the parent shape into the wire. I think I remember that it's done by forcing a specific shape at the hot temperature of Austenite so that the crystal structure equilibrates to that new shape, but I'd have loved to see it in action.
Also, possible drawbacks, like I don't know how hot a payload gets during a rocket launch, could that maybe influence the parent shape if you used an alloy targeted to the cold temperatures of space? And also the travel to Mars, the payload cools to very low temperatures; how would that affect the metal?
